Cymbopogon (lemongrass) is a genus of about 55 species of grasses. It is a tall perennial grass.

Common names

 Common names include lemon grass, lemongrass, barbed wire grass, silky heads, citronella grass, cha de Dartigalongue, fever grass, tanglad, hierba Luisa or gavati chaha.

Uses

Lemongrass used in teas, soups, curries, fish, beef, and seafood, but the most often used as a tea.

Medical uses

Lemongrass is an invigorating tea taken as a remedy to treat and balance mood. Used in relieving headaches, nausea.  Lemongrass is a supporting tool for colds and cough treatment, nasal congestion, laryngitis and fever. Help in gastrointestinal diseases, colitis, and flatulence.

Used as thrush and vaginal infections treatment. Used for liver detoxification. Drinking cold relieves hangover syndrome (2 cups during the day).

Contraindications

 Can lower blood pressure, so is not recommended for people with low blood pressure.
